Players of the Week

Week 2: Kortney Helm, Delta

Helm averaged 14 points and 7.3 rebounds as the Eagles went 3-0 on the week, beating Alexandria, Hagerstown and Elwood.

Week 1: Cameron Tabor, New Castle

Tabor averaged 24 points in two games, hitting 18-of-27 from the field. She also averaged six rebounds and three assists as the Trojans opened the year 1-1.

Conference news & notes

  • Pendleton Heights took an early lead in the HHC race with two wins last week, beating New Castle 50-49 in OT on Tuesday, and following with a 55-41 win over Yorktown on Saturday. Kylie Davis and Ally Hall led PH with nine points each in the Arabians’ win over New Castle, while Cameron Tabor led NC with 24 points and 10 boards, while Haylie Graham had 12. Kailyn Graham led three Arabians in double-figures with 15 points and nine rebounds against Yorktown. Lauren Landes had 12 points and Kylie Davis 11.
  • This week features a heavy schedule for all eight conference teams, including two HHC games. Pendleton Heights hosts Greenfield-Central on Friday. Delta hosts New Castle Saturday.
  • Two teams have started perfect so far: Delta is 4-0 for the first time since 2011-12, with Kortney Helm averaging 14 points and Kassidy Dishman 12.7 points in three games last week. Meanwhile, New Palestine is 3-0 for the first time since 1998-99. Leah Seib is averaging 15.0 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Dragons in their start.
  • Congrats to New Palestine’s Sarah Gizzi, who won her first game as a varsity coach in the Dragons’ season opener on Nov. 2.
