Girls: Cameron Tabor, New Castle
Tabor had 30 points, seven assists and seven steals in the Trojans’ 66-23 win over Shelbyville.

Boys: Mason Gillis, New Castle
Gillis had a pair of double-doubles in two Trojan victories, including 19 points and 11 boards in a 75-58 win over Shelbyville Friday evening. He followed with a 21-point, 11-rebound performance in a 70-48 win over Mooresville the next night.

Girls news & notes

  • Four conference games are on the docket this week. Tuesday sees HHC leader New Palestine host one-loss Mt. Vernon. Also, 1-1 Greenfield-Central hosts Shelbyville. Saturday sees New Palestine visit Yorktown and Greenfield-Central travel to Delta. NP can clinch a share of the HHC title with two wins.
  • New Palestine improved to 4-0 in the HHC and 9-0 overall with two conference wins last week – 52-29 over Shelbyville and 42-31 over Greenfield-Central. NP’s start is the best in school history. Megan Jolly led NP with 13 points and Haley Harrison had 10 against Shelbyville, while Carris Decatur’s 11 led the Bears. Jolly had 13 and Leah Seib 11 for NP against G-C. The Cougars were led by Jessica Farrell’s 11 points.
  • Pendleton Heights improved to 5-1 in HHC play with a 45-36 Thursday win over Delta. Lauren Landes had 14 to lead PH. Kortney Helm led Delta with nine.
  • New Castle improved to 2-2 in HHC play with a 66-23 win over Shelbyville Friday. Cameron Tabor scored 30 for NC on 11-of-15 shooting, along with seven assists and seven steals. Olivia Knarr had nine for Shelby.
  • Lexi Shelton scored 13 points as Mt. Vernon beat Yorktown 41-34 Saturday. Sophie Williams had nine points and 10 rebounds for MV.

Boys news & notes

  • Last week saw the opening of HHC play with five games.
  • Delta won its first conference game with a 51-41 win over Yorktown. Josh Bryan had 27 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles. Bobby Smith scored 15 for Yorktown.
  • New Palestine also had a rivalry victory, beating Greenfield-Central 56-44, buoyed by 11 3-pointers. Maximus Gizzi scored 21 points and had seven assists for NP. Will O’Connor had 17 points for G-C. Brian Long had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Long also had a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards earlier in the week against Westfield.
  • Pendleton Heights posted a big win with a 63-59 win over Mt. Vernon. Justin Shupe had 15 points and Trent Miller 12 for PH. Logan Smith led MV with 13 points. Miller then hit a buzzer-beater at the horn to lead PH to a 33-30 OT win over Connersville.
  • New Castle also remained unbeaten with a 75-58 win over Shelbyville. Luke Bumbalough had 21 points, Niah Williamson 20 and Mason Gillis had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Trojans. Cooper Lewis led four Shelbyville players in double figures with 15.
  • Shelbyville beat Yorktown 63-47 Saturday. Zach Kuhn led the Golden Bears with 17 points and seven boards. Matt Grimes had 16 points for Yorktown.
  • This week’s schedule features three conference games – all on Friday. New Palestine visits New Castle in a matchup of 1-0 teams. Shelbyville travels to Mt. Vernon. Yorktown visits Greenfield-Central.
