Players of the Week

G: Lucy Brand, Greenfield-C.

Brand scored both goals for the Cougars in a 2-1 victory over Pendleton Heights, which was the Cougars’ first victory over the Arabians in six seasons.

B: Tylin Broaders, Mt. Vernon

Broaders had a three-goal hat trick in the Marauders’ 4-2 victory over New Palestine last week.

News and notes

Last week featured four HHC boys games. Tuesday had three contests. Mt. Vernon extended its HHC record to 3-0 after a 4-2 win at New Palestine behind Tylin Broaders’ hat trick. Greenfield-Central beat Pendleton Heights 3-2. Zack Bell scored twice for G-C, while Abe Bohlsen socored 2G for PH. Yorktown beat New Castle 3-2 in OT, with Regan Frost scoring twice for the Tigers. On Saturday, New Palestine beat Yorktown 1-0.

This week features seven HHC boys games. Tuesday – Delta at Greenfield-Central, New Castle at New Palestine and Yorktown at Mt. Vernon. Thursday features G-C at MV, NC at Delta and NP at Shelbyville. Saturday, Yorktown hosts Shelbyville.

Last week also saw several HHC girls games. Tuesday, Yorktown beat New Castle 4-0 behind Elizabeth Reece’s hat trick. Mt. Vernon beat Shelbyville 12-0 as Cleo Mills scored five times.

Wednesday, Greenfield-Central beat Pendleton Heights 2-1 as Lucy Brand scored twice for the Cougars. Taylor Fort scored for PH.

Thursday, New Palestine beat Yorktown 5-3. Maddy Miller scored twice for NP. Elizabeth Reece had a goal and an assist for Yorktown. MV beat NC 6-0 as Rylie Pearson had two goals and an assist. Maddie Swingle was key in both shutouts.

This week’s girls schedule features five games. Tuesday has Shelbyville visiting Pendleton Heights. Wednesday, Greenfield-Central is at Delta and Mt. Vernon is at New Palestine. Saturday, Delta is at Shelbyville and Yorktown visits Mt. Vernon.
