Dragons win golf title

New Palestine celebrates the 2019 HHC title.

The New Palestine Dragons have won the first Hoosier Heritage Conference championship of the 2019-20 season, claiming the golf championship Saturday at River’s Edge in Shelbyville.

New Palestine’s Annaliese Fox was the individual champion for the second straight year, shooting a 72.

The Dragons won their fourth HHC title in five years.

NP shot an 18-hole aggregate score of 338, winning the title by a margin of 18 strokes over runner-up Greenfield-Central (356). Mt. Vernon (365) was third and defending champion Pendleton Heights (380) fourth.

Players from five different schools received All-HHC honors. Fox’s even-par 72 claimed medalist honors. G-C’s Caroline Gibson was the runner-up with a 75 and MV’s Meredith Johnson was third with a 78. NP’s Izzy Gray, MV’s Alaina Nugent, PH’s Danielle Tinsley, Yorktown’s Bella LaPierre and G-C’s Tandess O’Neal round out the All-HHC team.
