Player of the Week
Cameron Tabor, New Castle
Tabor had 20-point games in all three of the Trojans’ contests, including 22 in a 42-41 OT win over Delta in a conference game. She was 24-44 from the field, averaging 24.0 points and 4.7 rebounds.
Conference news & notes
- Greenfield-Central won its first conference game Friday night, beating Pendleton Heights 56-50 to give coach Joshua Means his first career varsity win. The Cougars are now 1-0 in conference play, while PH is 2-1.
- New Castle improved to 1-1 in HHC play Saturday with a thrilling 42-41 overtime win over Delta. Both of New Castle’s conference games have been decided by one point in overtime. Cameron Tabor had 22 points for New Castle. Kassidy Dishman had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Delta.
- New Palestine is the lone unbeaten in the conference, starting the year 4-0 for the first time since 1995-96. The Dragons beat Franklin Central 56-40 Tuesday behind Leah Seib’s 15 points.
- Vernon had its first two wins, beating Lawrence Central 75-32 and Rushville 64-63 in OT. The win over LC was the first for coach Julie Shelton in her return to the bench after three seasons coaching in the college ranks.
- Yorktown had a 2-0 week, with wins over Alexandria and Blackford. Carley Culberson had 27 points against Alex.
- Shelbyville had its first win of the year Friday, beating Southwestern 38-35.
- There is a light schedule this week, with six games, and each conference team playing once. Two are HHC games – Yorktown travels to Delta Tuesday; while Pendleton Heights travels to Shelbyville Friday.
