Cougars, Arabians win swim titles

Greenfield-Central celebrates the 2018 HHC boys swimming and diving championship.

The Greenfield-Central boys and Pendleton Heights girls won the Hoosier Heritage Conference swimming championships Saturday at New Palestine.

The G-C boys tallied 532 points to win the title over Mt. Vernon (329) and Yorktown (300). The PH girls won with 481 points, ahead of G-C (430) and Yorktown (358).

Greenfield-Central swept all 12 events in the boys meet. Zach Cook (200 MR, 200 FR, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Ethan Kile (200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 FR, 400 FR) and Chris Joven (200 FR, 400 FR, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) were four-event winners for the Cougars. Samuel Jennings won three events.

McKenna Jule was a four-event winner for Pendleton Heights, winning the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 free relay and 400 free relay, helping the Arabians to all four of their event wins. Emily Weiss of Yorktown won three events. Carley Logan of Greenfield-Central was a double-winner.

The G-C boys won their eighth straight conference title. The PH girls won their third HHC title overall – and third in five years.
