Players of the Week

Makayla Price, Greenfield-Central

In six matches last week, Price had 61 kills in 134 attempts, posting a .320 hitting percentage. She had 25 total kills in victories over Delta and New Palestine.

Victoria Bulmahn, Mt. Vernon

Bulmahn had 58 assists, 23 digs, 15 kills and 11 blocks in wins over Delta and Brownsburg.

News and notes

Four teams enter the week undefeated in HHC play – Yorktown, Mt. Vernon, Greenfield-Central and New Castle. Thursday’s two conference matchups involve all four teams.

HHC teams are 59-18 against non-conference foes this season.

Thursday featured three matches. Greenfield-Central beat New Palestine 25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17. Makayla Price had 12 kills and Morgan Grigsby 11 for G-C. Haleigh Pribble added 12 digs. Lydia Jones led NP with 16 kills. Yorktown beat Pendleton Heights 25-6, 25-17, 25-13. Kenzie Knuckles had 11 kills and nine digs for the Tigers. PH’s Gracie King had nine kills. Also, Mt. Vernon beat Delta 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18. Cecilia Bulmahn had 14 kills and 12 digs and Claire Ertel 11 kills and 16 digs for MV. Mayzie Hinkle had 18 kills and Maggie Manor 26 digs for Delta.

The week’s HHC play began last Tuesday with Greenfield-Central’s 25-20, 25-20, 27-25 sweep of Delta. Price had 13 kills, while Ava Antic had 10 kills and 16 digs.

Yorktown remains No. 1 overall in the IHSVCA ratings. The Tigers have yet to drop a set, winning all 32 sets they have played so far this season.
