Players of the Week
G: Helena Talbot, Pendleton Hts
Talbot had six goals and four assists in three conference matches, leading the Arabians to a 3-0 mark on the week and a 4-1 record for the season.
B: Trae Hassebroek, Shelbyville
Hassebroek had two goals and one assist in two HHC games, giving him 13 goals for the season.
News and notes
Last week was a big week on the HHC boys side with six games.
Action began Tuesday when Pendleton Heights beat Yorktown 2-0 on goals by Kai Moore and Abe Bohlsen. PH then beat Delta 8-0 Thursday. Moore had a goal and two assists.
Also Tuesday, Mt. Vernon beat Shelbyville 3-2 to improve to 5-1 in HHC play. Tylin Broaders scored twice for the Marauders. Evan Witte had a goal and an assist for Shelbyville.
Greenfield-Central beat New Palestine 1-0 Thursday on a goal by Zack Bell. Also Thursday, Shelbyville beat New Castle 3-0. Trae Hassebroek had a goal and an assist for the Golden Bears. Saturday, New Palestine beat Delta 3-0.
This week features New Castle at Delta and Shelbyville at Greenfield-Central Monday. Tuesday, New Castle hosts Pendleton Heights. Wednesday, Delta is at Yorktown and Pendleton Heights visits Mt. Vernon.
Girls action saw five games last week. Pendleton Heights went 3-0, beating Delta 10-1. Helena Talbot had a hat trick and Anna Childers two goals for PH, while Addie Chester scored for Delta. PH beat Yorktown 8-2 behind two goals and two assists each from Talbot, Taylor Fort and Lexi Hill. Lea Alexander had a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Fort scored twice in a 5-0 win over New Castle.
New Palestine went 2-0 on the week, beating Grenefield-Central 4-1 on two goals by Maddy Miller. Lucy Brand scored for G-C. Saturday, Lucy Miller scored twice as NP beat Delta 6-2. Chester scored twice for the Eagles.
This week features games Tuesday (NC at G-C), Wednesday (PH at NP), Thursday (G-C at Shelbyville) and Saturday (MV at Delta).
HHC in the polls: Mt. Vernon is receiving votes in the ISCA Class 3A girls poll.
Greenfield-Central’s girls beat North Knox and Lawrence Central to win Saturday’s Kickin’ Cancer tournament hosted by G-C.
