Maggie Manor, Delta
Manor had 87 digs in six matches over a 5-1 week for the Eagles, including a three-set sweep over New Palestine.
Audrey Reinhart, Shelbyville
Reinhart averaged 5.8 digs/set, including 20 digs against Yorktown.
News and notes
Yorktown and New Castle sit atop the HHC with 4-0 records through the week.
Class 4A No. 1 has won 44 straight sets.
New Castle won the Warren Central Invitational, going 4-0 with a victory over Delta in the final.
Last week was a big week of HHC action. Tuesday, Delta swept New Palestine 25-10, 25-18, 25-20. Mayzie Hinkle had 17 kills and Maggie Manor 16 digs for the Eagles. Rylie Sturgeon led NP with 12 digs. Also Tuesday, Mt. Vernon beat Greenfield-Central 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 25-13. MV’s Claire Ertel had 11 kills and 12 digs. G-C’s Ava Antic had 13 kills.
Thursday, Greenfield-Central won the “Fuller Bowl” as Travis and Andrew Fuller’s teams met in Shelbyville, 25-17, 25-12, 25-11. Antic had 12 kills and 10 digs for G-C. Audrey Reinhart had 15 digs for the Golden Bears. Also Thursday, New Castle beat Mt. Vernon 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19. NC’s Melani Shaffmaster had a triple-double with 15 kills, 10 digs and 40 assists. MV’s Cecilia Bulmahn had 14 kills. New Palestine beat Pendleton Heights 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21. NP’s Lydia Jones had 14 kills and 14 digs. Avery Ross and Gracie King had 13 kills each for PH.
Saturday, Yorktown beat Shelbyville 25-12, 25-20, 25-12. Kenzie Knuckles had 11 kills and 14 digs for the Tigers. Reinhart had 20 digs for the Golden Bears.
