Dragons take HHC girls track title

New Palestine celebrates its third straight HHC girls track title.

Jordan Reid set two Hoosier Heritage Conference records and was part of a New Palestine team that won nine events, leading the Dragons to their third straight HHC girls track title.

The Dragons tallied 140 points, beating Greenfield-Central, which tallied 106.5. Shelbyville was third with 89 points.

Reid broke two records. In the 100, she ran 12.14 seconds, beating a record of 12.17 seconds set by Delta’s Christina Poulson in 2003. Reid then broke her own two-year-old record in the 200, running 25.17 seconds. Her previous mark, set in 2017, was 25.60 seconds.

Other champions for the Dragons were Sophia Taylor in the 400, Kaylin Casner in the 1600, Kendall Mann in the 3200 and Aden Lumbley in the shot put. NP also won all three relays.

Greenfield-Central had three individual champions. Crystal Peterson won both hurdles races, while Hannah Burkhart won the discus.

Shelbyville had two champions in the field events – Malea Terrell in the high jump and Megan Eads in the long jump. New Castle’s Tristan Barr won the pole vault and Yorktown’s Amberleigh Sorenson took the 800 meter run.
