The New Palestine softball team claimed its sixth Hoosier Heritage Conference title this season, going 7-0 in HHC play and 22-3 for the regular season.
Pendleton Heights (6-1) and Mt. Vernon (5-2) were second and third. The rest of the league finished in a five-way tie for fourth with 2-5 conference records.
Sectional play begins this week in 4A play at Mt. Vernon (Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon, Pendleton Heights) and Bloomington South (Shelbyville). In Class 3A, defending state champion New Palestine hosts its own sectional. Delta, New Castle and Yorktown travel to Hamilton Heights.
