The Mt. Vernon Marauders swept the Hoosier Heritage Conference cross country titles Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Muncie Sportsplex.
The Marauders won a tight girls race with 61 places, beating Pendleton Heights (70) and New Palestine (71). Delta’s Nicole Southerland was the conference champ with a time of 18:12.44, with New Palestine’s Emma Mann second (19:27.91). Pendleton Heights’ Laney Ricker was third, while Morgan Tharp and Lydia Carrell led the champion Marauders, finishing fourth and fifth. MV placed five runners in the top 20.
Tristan Trevino led the MV boys to the title, winning a close race in 16:42.11, beating out PH’s Avry Carpenter (16:43.3). Mt. Vernon placed six runners in the top 12 to tally 30 points, beating out runner-up Greenfield-Central (68).
