Eagles, Dragons win golf sectional titles

New Palestine celebrates its girls golf sectional title.

Delta and New Palestine each won girls golf sectional championships on Saturday.

Delta shot 374 to win the Muncie Central sectional at the Muncie Elks Golf Club. Sarah McDowell’s 90 led the Eagles and was the individual sectional runner-up. Yorktown finished sixth.

New Palestine shot 333 to win the Mt. Vernon sectional at Old Oakland by 54 strokes. Dragons Mackenzi Black (70) and Annaliese Fox (77) finished as the individual champion and runner-up to lead NP to its fourth straight sectional title.

Greenfield-Central (394) also advanced from the sectional field and will compete in regional. G-C’s Lindsay McCord and Maecee Terhune were both third overall with 81s. Pendleton Heights was fourth, Shelbyville fifth and Mt. Vernon sixth in the 11-team field. PH’s Danielle Tinsley and Kiersten Maxwell advanced as individuals.

New Castle finished sixth at the Richmond sectional.

Delta, New Palestine and Greenfield-Central will all compete in Saturday’s Lapel regional at Edgewood Golf Course in Anderson. First tee time is 8:30 a.m.
