Players of the Week

Girls: Alexi Hardie, Mt. Vernon

Hardie tallied two goals in the Marauders’ HHC victory over a strong Greenfield-Central team Monday, then scored three more goals to lead MV to the Argos tournament title.

Boys: Ethan Schitter, Pend. Hts.

Schitter scored a hat trick in the Arabians’ 6-0 victory over Muncie Burris to start the week.

News and notes

Last week was a light week on the boys side with weather postponing a number of games. There was one scheduled conference game, with Mt. Vernon beating Delta 5-1 Tuesday. Jacob Knepper scored twice for MV. Zac Stanley scored for Delta.

Tuesday features three HHC boys games – Greenfield-Central at Pendleton Heights, Mt. Vernon at New Palestine and New Castle at Yorktown.

Outstanding boys performances: Jacob Knepper had five goals on the week for Mt. Vernon. Pendleton Heights’ Ethan Schitter scored a hat trick against Muncie Burris. G-C’s Jordan Phillips had a hat trick against Greenwood.

There were three girls games on the docket last week. Monday, Alexi Hardie scored twice as Mt. Vernon beat Greenfield-Central 3-1. Thursday, Greenfield-Central beat Yorktown 8-2. Anne Marie Dekeyser had three goals and two assists for G-C. Also Thursday, New Palestine beat New Castle 3-0.

This week’s girls schedule features five games. Tuesday, Mt. Vernon hosts Shelbyville and New Castle hosts Yorktown. Wednesday sees Pendleton Heights meet Greenfield-Central. Thursday, New Castle hosts Mt. Vernon and New Palestine hosts Yorktown.

Mt. Vernon’s girls won the Argos tournament with a 3-2 win over Glenn and a 4-1 win over LaPorte LaLumiere. The Marauders are now 6-0.

Other top girls performances: Addie Chester from Delta had her second straight six-goal game in an 11-0 win over Anderson. New Palestine’s Olivia Lambdin had a hat trick vs. Southport.
